Thiesi

Thiesi is a town of the Meilogu, in the province of Sassari, with 2800 inhabitants.

Town of shepherds and pastoralism, it boasts the presence of some of the largest cheese production centers in Sardinia.

Due to its geographical location, far from the most typical areas of cantu a tenore, Thiesi is almost unique in the territory of Meilogu.

In Thiesi the cantu a cunsonu (this is the local name of the style of singing and of the choir) has been handed down without interruption to the present day, maintaining its specific characteristics.

It is a style, the Thiesi one, with guttural voices and which mainly presents a profane repertoire: sa boghe sèria, sa maestralina, sa boghe 'e ballu and sos mutos.
