Seneghe

The town of Seneghe is located in the Montiferru region, among the olive groves that surround it and which, together with the historic oil mills, make it one of the major Sardinian oil towns.

Seneghe is also a musical town: Francesco Cubeddu, one of the most beloved guitar singers, was Seneghese, and it is the town of cantu a cuntratu (the local denomination of four-voice singing) and of Boricheddu Trogu, one of the legends of Sardinian tenor singing.

The Seneghe songs and singers are known and appreciated throughout Sardinia.

The repertoire of Senegese songs is rich in profane songs and sacred songs, all characterized by the guttural sound of the bassu and often also of the contra: sa pastorella, s'istudiantina, su ballu 'e càntidu, su semintonu, together with sos gosos dei santi de sa Chida Santa.
