Neoneli

Neoneli belongs to the historical region of Barigadu and its cantu a tenore is certainly the best known and most appreciated of all the surrounding towns;

this due to the great work carried out by the local singing group “Tenores Cultura Popolare di Neoneli” which brought the Neoneli songs around Sardinia and the whole world, with shows and collaborations with Sardinian, Italian and international artists. 

One of the most well-known and loved singers of Sardinian singing enthusiasts was Neoneli’s Alberto Zucca, who unfortunately passed away recently.

In Neoneli, the songs are mainly from the profane sphere: boghe sèria, sos ballos and sos mutos, but there is also an abundance of sos gosos of the sains, sometimes interpreted on texts related to social and environmental themes.

Census

In Neoneli, 15 active singers were surveyed. This is certainly not a high number considering the great notoriety of cantu a tenore in the town. The numbers suggest including Neoneli among the municipalities in which to concentrate safeguarding initiatives.
