Baunei

Located in the center of the Gulf of Orosei, on the east coast of Sardinia, Baunei is a town of about 3500 inhabitants, 500 meters above sea level, north of the Ogliastra region in the province of Nuoro.

The canto a tenore had a period of crisis here during the last century, with the presence of a few singers who mostly accompanied the poetry challenges

In the final part of the 1900s and in the last twenty years, however, there was a strong revival of tradition, driven by a younger generation.

Census

The 25 singers surveyed, from various age brackets, well represent the current situation of the resumption of the local polyphonic singing tradition.
